When Jennifer and Steve Heathshedt surrounded the 14-year-old Golden Retriever, they wanted to at least give her a lovely home and live the days of her glory.
They did not know they were adventurous with their new dog! Augustus, or "Auggie" as they are called, just celebrated their twentieth birthday.
Golden Hearts Golden Retriever Rescue said on its website: "They came to the conclusion that most people do not want such an elderly golden, but they had no idea what next trip they would go on with Augie." "They took her on RV trips around the country, she has a lot of dog and cat siblings, and she plays games in the pool."
Augie is believed to be the oldest living golden retriever with an average age of 10-12 years.
Her mother says her dog is “in a healthy condition” regarding her old age.
Augie is a bit wobbly on his feet when they first stop, but prefers to walk around the patio.
