After years of physical and emotional abuse, Will, a lion formerly known as the baby, was saved from a traveling circus. The circus was called RioZoo and comes from Brazil.
The lion had been brought to the Rancho dos Gnomos protected area for a better environment.
Will was never allowed to discover nature itself, with the exception of cold cement floors which were enclosed by metal bars. Will had no freedom for 13 years. The Gnomos employees took pity on Will and decided to do their best for him.
Will's returning to go back to nature would be suicidal and extremely unrealistic since the lion was completely bred in captivity. Will also had no survival aids to help him. The sanctuary staff built Will's own house, which was full of grass, stones and plenty of space to walking freely.
When Will entered his house for the first time, he was too excited! Will also quickly adapted to his new quiet life.

Will’s favorite thing to do was to lie in the grass and look up into the sky.
Sadly, Will's has passed away in 2011. He was 18 years old, but the staff will still remember him well.
