A 9-year-old German Shepherd named Sarge is now the best alternative to orphan flowers. But his character was completely different as a puppy. He was a bit pissed after that, still biting his toes and chasing his brother's home. But when he met this first orphan, buckwheat, everything changed.

Malik Sarj found the baby deer lying in the middle of the road, so she led it home. Immediately, Sarge assumed the role of parent and guardian. He made the perfect babysitter for a little fawn that just needs someone to make him feel safe.

The two did it all together, but it was finally time to bring buckwheat back into the wild. But word spread about Sarge's aspirations and alternate abilities, and mom's phone started ringing the whole time. Now Sarge is rehabilitating orphans and wounded full time and is super happy every time someone new comes out of that door!

Each time it resembles buckwheat again. There is just something about this elk that Sarge is associated with, and his talent for taking care of it will help save many lives.
