Meet the cute little Wombat Elsie, who was rescued from her dead mother's pocket after a car accident. It all happened in mid-March when a kind bystander spotted the poor kid who was completely alone in this world and immediately brought a wombat to ACT Wildlife, the only wildlife conservation group in Canberra.
The tiny baby wombat was rescued from her dead mother’s pouch after she was hit by a car.

She was very thin and weak, so she was taken to an emergency veterinary clinic. Her caregivers weren't sure the little wombat would be successful, but it turned out that Elsie was a true fighter.
At about six and a half months, she has now found her long-term home with her new "mom," Helen, who will take care of her until Elsie is independent enough to release her back into the wild
Elsie was almost three months old and weighed just 120 grams
